RZA, a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, came to the market with a buffer jacket made of ocean waste. Rapper and vegan deals with vegan products and founded a company 36 Chambers that offers ethical clothing and accessories. Part of the profits is donated to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Recycled Input Materials
The jacket filling is made from 100% recycled plastic PET bottles taken from the ocean. The lining is from 100% recycled polyester.
36 Chambers, which joined forces with PETA and the German brand Embassy of Bricks, and all together created the Flying Guillotine Puffer Jacket. It was named after the Taiwanese „Master of the Flying Guillotine“ movie.
The jacket costs $ 336, with 15% of the profits from this jacket going to PETA to continue its advocacy for animal rights.
Ethical Cruelty-free Products
Most members (8 out of 10) of the Wu-Tang Clan rap group are vegans. RZA is of the opinion that today we have technologies that enable us to create ethical products.
“As we evolve as a people through technology and ingenuity, we have the ability through humane ways to fashion garments that not only serve our purpose but also, more importantly, abandon the unnecessary cruelty to animals,” RZA said.
Vegan Style – Future Style?
PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in s statement that, “While down items harm animals and the planet, this warm, trendy vegan coat made with 100 percent recycled ocean plastic will help PETA save animals. The Flying Guillotine Puffer Jacket is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to wear their heart on their sleeve this winter.”
Since 2016, 50-year-old rapper, producer, and actor, RZA owns 36 Chambers company, which for ethical reasons does not use animal skin or animal by-products. Cruelty-free products is a priority for the company.
RZA’s 36 Chambers also introduced a vegan wallet made of vegan leather from banana tree fibers.
