All over the world there is an effort to stop using fossil fuels as soon as possible. In many countries, they are already planning to completely ban cars with internal combustion engines from a certain year. Are people ready to get off fossil fuels? Elon Musk owns one of the most famous car companies that produces electric cars. Yet now he has said an opinion that many people would not expect from him. Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, shared in Norway earlier today that gas and oil are currently needed to prevent civilizations from crumbling.
An opinion from Elon Musk is important to many people
Elon Musk has a huge influence and when he says something, many people listen to his opinions and follow them. He made the comments at an oil and gas conference in Stavanger, Norway and also mused on climate change, renewable energy, and population decline.
“Realistically I think we need to use oil and gas in the short term, because otherwise civilization will crumble,” Musk told delegates, per Reuters.
“One of the biggest challenges the world has ever faced is the transition to sustainable energy and to a sustainable economy. That will take some decades to complete.”
Is Musk going against the grain?
Despite record oil and gas prices, production is halting. While Biden/Obama want to stop oil and gas production, Musk’s thoughts are the opposite. The world is facing a major crisis and this man’s views could help make a difference. He also shared a tweet last week sharing how countries should think about nuclear power.

Recently, Musk doubled down on his support for nuclear energy during the transition to net zero, and said those supporting the shutdown of nuclear power plants were “anti-human.”
The world is facing a deep crisis and there is a need for influential and powerful people to help find a solution. Fossil fuels are problematic, but is it appropriate to switch to ecological sources at a time when the world is facing a crisis and many people do not have money?
