In Japan, there is nothing new about cramped housing. You can find many small apartments to rent. They are known as “capsule hotels”. One such example is the small rooms in Tokyo, discovered by photographer Won Kim. He could not forget them, and he went back to these places to photograph them. Thus, his cycle “Enclosed: Living Small” came into being.
Capsule hotels
Pictures show small spaces made of plywood. You will not find any windows, and instead of a door, there is usually a curtain. In spite of the little space, every inhabitant has somehow made it like home. Some residents keep their small rooms clean while others do not mind the mess.
