When talking about the most common type of waste, the majority of people would probably imagine plastic bags or bottles. Surprisingly, the most common type of garbage is cigarette butts. Unfortunately, the butts contain dozens of dangerous chemicals, including arsenic and benzene.

Cigarette butts as a danger

These toxins are released into the soil and water, causing severe risks to birds, fish and other animals. Every year, trillions of cigarette butts are thrown into the wild. Many cleaning companies confirm the fact that butts are the most common component of garbage on the beaches. Increasingly, there are prohibitions on the use or dumping of disposable items, ranging from bags to cups, straws or bottles. However, similar efforts should be made to ban the dumping of cigarette butts.
